UNCOMPROMISING CONDITION SET! How will he get over this - will he miss Wimbledon after all?
Now everything is clear.
The second tennis player in the world, Daniil Medvedev, could very easily miss the upcoming Wimbledon, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Namely, the British Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston said that Russian players, in addition to renouncing the national flag, would have to sign a "written statement" condemning the war, but also proving that they were not funded by Vladimir Putin or the Kremlin .
- We have submitted a request to the official bodies that individual athletes (Russians or Belarusians) who want to play sports in the United Kingdom play as independent and neutral and to do that sincerely - Huddleston said, and then clarified:
- We want to get a written confirmation that they do not receive money from Putin, Russia or Belarus. And that they will not publicly support Putin, Russia or Belarus - the Minister in the Government of Great Britain concluded.
As a reminder, the title in London should be defended by Novak Djoković, whereas Medvedev was eliminated in the fourth round last year.
Wimbledon is scheduled to take place between 27 June and 10 July.
